A BSW Fort William Engineer has been recognised for his involvement in leading a team of apprentices through Skills Development Scotland’s Fuel Change Competition.
Shaun Macleod, a former apprentice and now fully qualified engineer at BSW Fort William, was a finalist in the ‘Supporting Net Zero Apprentice’ category at this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship awards for leading his team in the low carbon innovation challenge.
Through the Fuel Change challenge, Shaun and his team offered BSW new, innovative ways of working, which could potentially deliver the company annual savings of £400,000 per year, with the added opportunity of cutting carbon emissions by thousands of tonnes per year.
Since the challenge, Shaun has continued to advocate for net-zero by participating in podcasts and attending events with the Fuel Change Team.
Shaun has taken the role of mentor to the apprentices taking part in this year’s Fuel Change Challenge at BSW’s Fort William Mill.
