12th August marks International Youth Day, a global awareness day initiated by the UN General Assembly in 1999. It serves as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change.
BSW Group offers a number of exciting graduate and apprentice opportunities to inspire, instil a sense of curiosity and develop the next generation. There are a wide range of apprenticeships in engineering, saw doctoring, process manufacturing, IT, finance, and administration – and the graduate offering covers timber harvesting management, engineering, management, finance, marketing, sales and IT. We also promote apprenticeships to older learners for people with no experience of previous further education.
The programmes are integral to the future of the business and provide a number of benefits to students:
• Students will earn as they learn, be paid a wage and not have to worry about paying back course fees at the end of training
• They will be given the opportunity for further training and qualifications in chosen fields of speciality
• They will be able to talk through questions or concerns in a safe and non-judgemental environment
• There is a network of other apprentices and graduates studying across the business who ca assist with studies and learning opportunities
• The company has highly experienced tradespeople and qualified managers who can offer help and advice
• There are STEM events across the UK which promote opportunities and experiences to a new generation of young people
At the end of their studies, students gain a variety of qualifications which will help them take on varying and challenging roles in future careers. Vacancy positions within BSW also allow students to utilise their new skills and help shape the future of the company.
Tony Lockey, Group Learning & Development Manager at BSW, said: “We have a saying, ‘we are BSW’. We are so proud of the achievements we have made with our graduate and apprenticeship training programmes over the last few years.
“We’ve won awards for the management of our training and we are extremely proud of our business teams. They manage the progress of young people to become key members of staff and vital components in our business.”
