IRO Timber, manufactured by BSW, has been shortlisted for a ‘Best Materials Innovation’ award at this year’s Building Innovation Awards.

The Building Innovation Awards is an annual event that showcases the newest and most innovative products – and IRO has been shortlisted in conjunction with project partners TFS due to how diverse and unique the product range is.

IRO is inspired by the Japanese process of yakisugi and further enhanced by high pressure treatment and a wood cream coating. It is available in a suite of 15 different colours, which means there’s a colour for every environment.

The cladding and decking range is also incredibly versatile, meaning you can create just about anything. Customers have already used IRO Timber to craft outdoor bars, coffee tables, planters, patterned walls and holiday cottages.

Hamish Macleod, Director of Public Affairs at BSW Timber, said: “It’s great to see IRO being nominated for awards this early on. It’s a very exciting new range for us and leaves me wondering what could be possible as the product becomes even more established.
“We already have many more exciting projects lined up for IRO which will hopefully mean we’ll continue to be shortlisted for such amazing awards.”

Howard Morris, Managing Director of TFS, added: “We’re delighted to be part of the IRO project and the process of creating such a unique and special product. We entered this award as it was the ideal opportunity to showcase innovation at its best.”
