BSW enjoyed a successful night at the recent Wood Protection Association awards in Coventry, picking up two awards at the prestigious timber industry event.
BSW won the WPA Treated Wood Campaign Award for its campaign work promoting its new UC4 collection of incised timber – which increases timber’s service life and affords it a 15-year warranty.
In addition, our very own longstanding Public Affairs Director, Hamish MacLeod, won the Lifetime Achievement Award as well as BSW crown distributor scheme member Bond Timber winning the Treated Wood Trader of the Year.
James Brennan, Group Marketing Manager, said: “It is thrilling to see how we have grown, whilst keeping our determination to provide high quality, sustainable timber products. To not only be nominated but also awarded for our UC4 collection by industry experts, WPA, is superb. This is testimony to the hard work and dedication of our team over the last year.”
Hamish MacLeod, BSW PA Director, was delighted to receive the accolade for individuals who have dedicated more than 25 years to the wood protection industry: “I was taken completely by surprise when it was announced that I was to be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award to the treatment industry.
“I am greatly honoured to be recognised by the WPA, its Board and peers in the industry in which I’ve built my 40-year career.
“When I was MD at Dalbeattie I always sought to invest in the best technology available, with timber treatment being no exception.”
Tony Hackney, CEO of BSW, paid tribute to Hamish’s work: “Hamish has tirelessly represented the BSW Group in numerous public, political and governing body arenas – ensuring that the voice of not only of BSW, but of the wider timber industry, was always heard.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful employees for their commitment and efforts this year.”
Gordon Ewbank, CEO of the WPA, added: “It was particularly pleasing to be able to celebrate BSW’s enthusiastic engagement with the WPA/TTF industry wide educational campaign on specifying treated wood correctly and then to be able to recognise one of their leading lights, Hamish McLeod, for his lifelong contribution to the cause of high-quality preserved wood products. Hamish has always been a champion of innovation and well targeted investment, values that underpin the WPA’s annual industry Awards programme”.
