BSW recently sponsored a chainsaw competition in Cirkovce which brought together forest owners from the Saša region and the surrounding area.
The competition took place at the Cirkovce primary school and was once again in honour of Milan Pogorelčnik, who often organised past woodcutting competitions. This year the competition joined forces with the local community of Cirkovce and with it marked a local holiday.
More competitors participated in this year’s competition than ever before, with a total of 39. Martin Medved, chairman of the Forest Owners’ Association of Šaleška dolina, said: “There would have been even more here today, but there are time constraints.”
Among the participants, allegedly, were the seven best competitors from the national chainsaw competition. Toni Breznik, head of the Regional Unit of Slovenia Forest Service Nazarje, was in also impressed by the standard, which is demonstrated across five chainsaw disiplines.
The winners in the men’s category were Dani Avbreht, Janko Mazej and Klemen Mazej, while Lučka Jelšnik, Darja Bobovnik and Pavla Voler scooped the women’s prizes. The best three teams were Duseti Šoštanj, Brlec and Savinjska 1.
The winners of individual disciplines were as follows: bucking by combined cut – Dani Avbreht; precision bucking – Lučka Jelšnik; felling cut and undercut – Janko Mazej; limbing – Aleksander Bobovnik; felling on a balloon – Klemen Podkrižnik.
