The timber industry is coming together to raise awareness of timber’s environmental benefits.

BSW is supporting the Wood CO2ts less campaign in association with Wood for Good, Confor and the Timber Trade Federation.

The aim of the campaign is to promote the use of all wood products as low carbon materials and illustrate how using wood can help reduce CO2 in the atmosphere and slow down climate change.

Hamish Macleod, Director of Public Affairs at BSW Timber, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to support the Wood CO2ts Less campaign. As a business rooted in nature BSW firmly believes that timber products hold the key to the sustainable future of the construction industry, and we are dedicated to creating a more sustainable environment for future generations.”

Here are four key facts outlining how timber products can make a positive difference for a more sustainable built environment:

  1. Using wood from sustainably managed forests instead of other materials is one of the simplest ways to reduce the carbon emissions generated by the construction industry.
  2. Wood captures and stores carbon for the life of the wood product.
  3. Using wood instead of other materials saves CO2 emissions, both through the carbon captured and stored in the wood product and the avoidance of using alternative CO2-intensive materials.
  4. Using wood in construction is a cost-effective solution to carbon capture.
